Can I join Cruden Bay? Is there a waiting list for membership? What does an overseas membership cost? Many first time visitors to Cruden Bay walk off the 18th green asking these questions. The good news is, yes you can.

Here are some frequently asked questions on overseas membership at Cruden Bay Golf Club.

All overseas members receive a complimentary night stay at our onsite holiday rental, Dunes, Cruden Bay subject to a two night minimum stay. We're located less than 100 yards from the clubhouse.

Does Cruden Bay Golf Club offer overseas membership?

Yes and only until very recently, could you have walked straight off the 18th green and into the clubhouse and buy one that day. You don't even require any proposers.

Does Cruden Bay have an overseas membership waitlist?

At the time of writing (June 2024) there is a waitlist of 23 golfers. Based on the intake of golfers from this year's intake (nine), the waitlist for Cruden Bay overseas membership is approximately 2-3 years.  

How much does Cruden Bay overseas membership cost?

The first year of an overseas Cruden Bay Golf Club will cost £874.50.

This is made up of £440 annual subscription plus £420 one time joining fee for your first year. There is also an annual Scottish Golf levy of £14.50

What does a Cruden Bay overseas membership include?

Access to member tee times and most member benefits with the exclusion of voting privileges. An overseas membership also entitles members to sign on additional paying guest fees at a significant discount to the regular greens fee. Note that this is closely monitored and capped. 

Members can benefit from Cruden Bay Golf Club's reciprocal courses that currently include Scottish golf courses Panmure Golf Club and Boat of Garten as well as Melbourne's Yarra Yarra Golf Club.  

How many overseas members does Cruden Bay Golf Club have?

The Club has capped their overseas membership at 70.

Do any other Scottish links golf clubs nearby offer overseas memberships?

Royal Aberdeen Golf Club, the sixth oldest golf club in the world and located just 20 minutes drive south of Cruden Bay are currently accepting overseas memberships. 

The seventh oldest golf club in the world, Fraserburgh Golf Club offer overseas membership at £210 and includes up to a total of six guests. 

    Where to stay when golfing in Cruden Bay?

    At present we have a number of returning overseas members that return each season with guests. Our property sleeps between 3-8 golfers. We have five bedrooms, four of which are ensuite double rooms making it optimal for groups of four golfers. 

    For smaller groups of 1-3 golfers, those after a single night stay in the village and/or those on a budget, we suggest the St Olaf Golf Hotel located 200 yards away.
